Andrew,

Thanks for the encouragement and response. I've heard an awful lot about that Rob Bell quote. Is it from his book "Velvet Elvis"? I'd like to read it in context sometime, because he's been in serious hot water with some folks for it. From what I understand about the quote, though, I'd say I'm in basic agreement with the idea, though I wouldn't stretch it too far.

At the very least, I'd say we haven't really looked into the depth of meaning regarding the resurrection very fully at all as the church. NT Wright is certainly taking us deeper, and Shane Claiborne over here across the pond is working with the concept of "practicing resurrection" in really innovative ways, so yeah, resurrection is definitely a spring rather than a one-time event without any other different meaning.

Hey. Nice post. Challenging in places. I guess this is the kind of discussion I think of when Rob Bell writes about the tenets of faith as being like the springs in a trampoline. Hooking out the one marked "resurrection" and giving it a stretch to see if it bends ... Does swapping it for a different spring change the way we bounce (or dance, in your metaphor)? Good discussion. Thanks.
